All the professors have worked in their field and have knowledge of the workforce outside of school. Presenting the materials in a way for us to understand and lead us in the direction of success has made my confidence go up now that we’ve arrived at graduation.

AT DePaul we are taught only by professors, not teaching assistants, and class sizes are kept very small. the teaching is personalized and reflects real world experience, and you can tell that the professors truly care about your future in the professional world.

Because we are located in the city, we have professors with great real-world experience. When they are teaching in class, they have so many great examples that they have seen first hand. Many of them pop in to DePaul to teach class when they have free time in their real jobs. This gives us up-to-date information about the business atmosphere in Chicago as well as provides us solid connections for when we apply for full-time positions.

[The program is] top notch, but like everyone, I am concerned about employment after graduation.

Being on the quarter system, I have the oppurtunity to take a wide variety of courses related to finance that other students might not be able to take while on a semester system. also, most of the classes have only about 30 students, which creates a much more intimate learning experience for each student.

DePaul has this way of attracting fantastic firms for internships and job opportunities, and the opportunities help out a great deal in getting students started and obtaining experience in business. the advisors also go out of their way with getting you in the door of the business world, which is rare in any institution.

DePaul’s business program forces students to take classes in all business subjects and usually requires more than one class in each of these subjects. Because of my experience in the business program, I have taken accounting (minor), marketing, management, business information systems, economics, and finance (major), to only name a few. When I have conversations with friends from other schools, who majored in other business majors than I did, I find myself to be the one who is able to keep the conversation going, seemingly knowing just as much, if not more, as they do. DePaul truly provides a unique educational experience in its business program and it is my opinion that it is invaluable in how it has shaped me to become the person I am now, set to begin work for my new company in July.

DePaul’s location in one of America’s largest cities gives students opportunities for internships that you would not recieve elsewhere. At DePaul you can go to school and intern at a great company during the school year – and not just in the summer. DePaul has partnerships with many businesses and a great career center that can place you in an internship or a job. DePaul’s business curriculum also gives students education from many different aspects of business – not just your major. By the time you graduate you will have taken classes in finance, management, marketing, economics, accounting, business law, business ethics, business calc, and statistics.

I aim to be challenged. Application of academics through group projects, working with outside companies, presentation and communication development are all important things that are imperative to a well-rounded business education. I am currently finishing my Honors Integrated Marketing Education program, and it has exceedingly prepared me for the real world. I am confident that I will be able to surpass expectations at my position based on my experience at DePaul.

I don’t know if it is unique, but the freedom we have at school to think freely helps tremendously. It does not seem to me that every school allows so much creativity in students. or maybe I just keep getting blessed with good teachers and classes. I pretty much do whatever I want and how I want it when it comes to schooling and school work, and that helps a student like me grow and expand to a great degree.

I enjoy the diversity the business program offers. Everyday I am learning something new about cultural differences within the business world. I learn to interact with students from all over the world. in the business world, one must know how to handle cultural differences, and DePaul’s business program helps me do this.

I was in the Strobel Honors Accouting program. It has allowed me access to exclusive Strobel-only events with recruiters as well as contact with working professionals in my classes. Working professionals/recruiters came in as guest speakers and even critiqued presentations we gave in one class. these special networking opportunities led to the full-time offer I received from Deloitte last April.

I still have almost a year to graduation and I just hope my future classes would be better and easier to register for since it is almost impossible to get the schedule you want. I am lucky I have prior experience in the banking industry, which could help me with searching for a job, otherwise I can not imagine where to start looking and how people will hire me without experience.

I did not really feel as if DePaul prepared me for real-life work experience. yes, I learned all major and minor accounting information, but I don’t think it will be enough for the actual practice.

The school really focuses on skills that are applicable to the real world. while sometimes lacking in the academic theories and history that other schools might have, I am confident about my abilities to succeed in any work environment. in addition, the plethora of executives and professionals who come on campus to talk to students is unrivaled.
